The Somali Hero Awards is a first-of-its-kind annual event organized jointly by Somali Diaspora Center (SDC), a Minnesota-based organization, This prestigious platform is dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the outstanding achievements of individuals and businesses within the Somali community, both in Somalia and across the global diaspora, with a special focus on the vibrant Somali community in Minnesota. Scheduled for December 20-21, 2025, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Bloomington in Minnesota

Our leadership team is committed to recognizing excellence, celebrating achievement, and strengthening the Somali community through world-class events and meaningful partnerships.
Ali Gaashaan
President
Provides strategic leadership and overall governance for the Somali Hero Awards. Oversees the organization's vision, represents the awards at official engagements, strengthens stakeholder relationships, and ensures the initiative upholds the highest standards of excellence and impact.
Hassan Mustaf Isak
Chief Executive Officer
Leads the organization's executive operations, strategic planning, partnerships, and long-term growth. Responsible for operational excellence, resource development, and the successful delivery of the Somali Hero Awards.
Ubah Igan
Event Host & Coordinator
Serves as the official host and operational coordinator of the Somali Hero Awards. Leads event planning, logistics, scheduling, stakeholder coordination, vendor management, and professionally hosts the awards ceremony while ensuring a seamless guest experience.
Mohamed Wardheere
Master of Ceremony
Hosts and moderates the official awards ceremony with professionalism and confidence. Guides the event program, introduces speakers and award recipients, engages the audience, and maintains the flow and prestige of the ceremony.
Asad Gaaciye
East Africa Representative
Represents the Somali Hero Awards across East Africa by building strategic partnerships, engaging regional stakeholders, promoting the organization's mission, and expanding its presence throughout the region.
Deqa Hamud
Chief of Event Protocol
Manages and oversees all formal protocol requirements for the event. Ensures the highest level of hospitality, proper guest seating, adherence to official procedures, and coordinates VIP management to ensure an esteemed environment.
Faisal Derri
Chief of Committee
Directs the operations of the organizing committees, steering strategic group efforts toward the successful execution of the ceremony. Coordinates team objectives, tracks milestones, and unifies executive actions.
Abdisaid Afgab
Director of Event Outreach & High Level Delegations
Coordinates critical outreach frameworks and establishes strategic partnerships for the Somali Hero Awards. Leads interaction models with high-level delegations and coordinates external development programs to maximize institutional reach.
Nuradin Omar
Representative of Australia
Serves as the vital international link representing the Somali Hero Awards in Australia. Engages the diaspora community, establishes key cross-continental partnerships, and elevates our mission on a global scale.
Aden Maneeno
Committee Member
Contributes valuable strategic insights and operational support to the committee framework. Assists in executing major logistics and organizing vital initiatives to ensure the awards remain highly successful.
Imam Yusuf
Committee Member
Plays an integral role in community mobilization and coordination. Works directly with foundational workflows, ensuring transparent selection processes and high-quality outreach across sectors.

Committee Member
